Woman poses as dead dad’s wife for 10 years, collects Rs 12 lakh pension in UP’s Etah | Agra News – Times of India
Mohsina Parvez, 36, was subsequently apprehended by police and remanded in custody following court orders that were issued on Monday. As per the case details, Wajahat Ullah Khan, a retired revenue clerk, died on January 2, 2013. His wife Sabiya Begum was already dead by then. Mohsina fabricated documents to present herself as her father’s spouse and successfully extracted the necessary approvals to get the family pension.
So far, she has drawn over Rupees 12 lakh in pension, officials said. Mohsina got married to Farooq Ali in 2017 but their relationship soured, leading to their separation.
Farooq was aware of Mohsina drawing a pension illegally but reported the matter only after she left him last year, officials said.
The initial probe, spearheaded by the office of the sub-divisional magistrate in Aliganj, revealed that Mohsina “cleverly used her mother’s name and even her own photograph” in the pension application, duping authorities in the process.
The application, authenticated by a clerk and a beat constable, eventually made its way to the district treasury for final clearance.
Subsequently, an FIR was registered against Mohsina at Aliganj police station, charging her under multiple sections of IPC, including 420 (cheating), 467 (forgery of valuable security), 468 (forgery for the purpose of cheating), 471 (using as genuine a forged document), and 409 (criminal breach of trust by a public servant).
Police said the role of officials who approved the woman’s application is being investigated. Additional district magistrate Alok Kumar said, “The investigation reveals significant lapses in the verification and approval process of the accused’s pension application. Strict action will be taken against the staffers found guilty of conniving with the accused.”
