The duo were ultra-aggressive in their approach as they scored more than 100 runs in the first 10 overs of the chase, which set up the game in India’s favour. Jaiswal hit 11 boundaries and three sixes in his innings, while Gill hit three boundaries and five sixes.

The partnership by the duo was also hailed by Hardik Pandya as brilliant following India’s win.

“Brilliant. As we’ve seen, there’s no doubt in their skillset. They just needed to spend some time between the wickets. Going forward we have to take more responsibility as a batting group and support the bowlers. I’ve always believed bowlers win matches. Yashasvi and Shubman were brilliant. Very pleasing to see,” said Hardik.

Manjrekar is the latest to heap praise on the duo and said that the young batters don’t need to adjust to T20 cricket as they’re naturals to it. The former cricket said it was the perfect approach to the shortest format of the game.

“The young Ind batters don’t have to ‘adjust’ to T20s. They are naturals at it. Stay in the moment, see the ball hit the ball. No worrying about getting out, no long terms plans of getting a 50 or a 100. That’s perfect T20 approach! Well done Gill & Jaiswal!” tweeted Manjrekar.
