‘Why is Congress neglecting you, is it because of a call from Kolkata … ?’ PM Modi takes a dig at Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury | India News – Times of India

NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday took a dig at Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, the leader of opposition in Lok Sabha. Replying to the debate on motion of no-confidence moved by the opposition, PM Modi wondered why did the Congress not include his name in the list of party speakers.

“Why is Adhir being neglected by the Congress? Is it because of a phone call from Kolkata?” PM said taking a swipe at Congress’s move to share space with Mamata Banerjee’s Trinamool Congress as part of INDIA- opposition’s new alliance.
“Thanks to you and Amit Bhai (Amit Shah) that Adhir got the opportunity to participate in the debate,” PM said.

“However, as is his wont, Adhir wasted the opportunity,” he added.
Prime Minister was referring to Adhir’s speech earlier in the day that triggered a storm in the House. Adhir had made some remarks against the Prime Minister that was opposed strongly by the members of the treasury benches.
Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury has been a strong critic of Mamata and has been very vocal in his attacks on her Trinamool government in West Bengal.
However, with the Congress and the Trinamool coming on one stage as part of the opposition alliance, Adhir finds himself in a difficult political space in West Bengal.
On Wednesday, Amit Shah had taken a dig at the Congress leader for being left out by his party as a speaker in the no-confidence debate.
