UP YouTuber gets Rs 2.6 crore tax notice, 7 bogus firms linked to PAN card | Meerut News – Times of India

MEERUT: A 33-year-old resident of Bulandshahr’s Khurja area, who has been running a YouTube news portal for the past four years, was baffled after he was served a notice by the income-tax department asking him to pay Rs 2.6 crore as “dues”.

Maharana Pratap Singh earns around Rs 20,000 a month from his channel and received the first notice in October last year. “On checking with a CA, we found that seven firms were registered on my PAN card — one in Telangana, five in Delhi and one in UP‘s Amroha. I have no clue about these companies or how my PAN card has been misused,” Singh said on Tuesday.
He lodged a complaint with SSP, Bulandshahr, stating that his PAN had been misused without his knowledge by “bogus companies”.

Singh added: “Till now, I’ve received six notices from the I-T department and my CA has replied. I’ve also filed a complaint with the GST department and yet to hear from it. Even if I sell all my property, I’ll hardly be able to pay 10% of the total amount.” SSP (Bulandshahr), Shlok Kumar, said, “The cyber cell is probing the matter. All documents are being checked. We’ll take action once the investigation is complete.”
