Sachin (25), who is the nephew of gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, left the country just before Moose Wala’s murder last year in May.
NEW DELHISources said he had fled to Dubai on a fake passport issued in the name of Tilak Raj Tuteja. The passport showed his address at Sangam Vihar in south Delhi. “He went to Dubai in May-end and took a flight to Baku, the capital city of Azerbaijan, on May 31,” a senior cop tracking the Bishnoi gang said.
Sachin, who belongs to Fazilka district in Punjab, had claimed responsibility for Moose Wala’s murder on Facebook, saying it was to avenge the death of their “brother Vicky Middukhera”. Vikramjit Singh aka Vicky Middukhera, a native of Middukhera village in Bathinda, was shot on August 7, 2021, in a parking lot in Mohali by the Bambiha gang. Vicky had supported Lawrence Bishnoi when the latter contested the students’ union election as a leader of the Students Organisation of Panjab University (SOPU) at DAV College.
Lawrence had vowed to avenge his murder and accused Moose Wala of supporting the Bambiha gang and being part of the conspiracy. Sources said that Sachin, aware of the conspiracy to murder Moose Wala, had left the country after coordinating the logistics. Soon after the reports of Sachin having fled the country surfaced, the agencies launched a manhunt and tracked him down in Baku in August last year. Special Cell, agencies, Punjab Police and the ministry of external affairs then initiated legal formalities to bring him back.
The Indian agencies were apprised of positive developments in this connection early this month following which the Union home ministry gave a go-ahead to dispatch a team to bring him back. “The special cell team will reach Baku on Sunday night and will try to bring him back as soon as possible. Special commissioner HGS Dhaliwal and additional commissioner Pramod Kushwah are monitoring the operation,” an investigator said.
Both Sachin and Lawrence’s cousin, Anmol Bishnoi, had fled the country together before Moose Wala’s murder. Anmol was first spotted in Kenya, but was recently tracked in California. Shubhdeep Singh Sidhu, popularly known as Sidhu Moose Wala, was shot in May 2022 in the Moosa village in Mansa district. The post-mortem report revealed that he was shot 19 times and was brought dead to the hospital, just a day after his security cover was revoked by the Punjab government. It is believed that Sachin and Canada-based Goldy Brar had coordinated the logistics and shooters for the hit on Lawrence Bishnoi’s instructions. A red-corner notice has been issued by the Interpol against Brar.
