Rape convict freed from jail rapes again, survivor critical | India News – Times of India


BHOPAL: A 35-year-old rape convict in MP’s Satna district, released in 2021 after a remission in sentence, raped a minor again on Wednesday.

The accused, Rakesh Verma, had been awarded 10-year jail term, but was released after serving seven years as the rest of his sentence was waived off because of “good conduct”.
Verma allegedly lured the minor and raped her on Wednesday evening.

The survivor was taken to hospital and was referred toRewa Medical College Hospital after primary treatment. She was reported to be critical.

The accused has been arrested and booked under the Pocso Act.
Madhya Pradesh home minister Narrottam Mishra said Verma’s house would be bulldozed.
