Rajya Sabha Election 2024 Live Updates: Amid the concern about cross-voting by Congress and the Samajwadi Party MLAs, elections for the 15 Rajya Sabha seats across three states is underway. Interestingly, 41 of the 56 candidates have already been elected to the Upper House unopposed due to lack of opposition, leaving seats up for voting in three states – Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka and Himachal Pradesh.

The polling on the remaining seats – 10 seats in Uttar Pradesh, 4 in Karnataka and 1 in Himachal Pradesh – is taking place on Tuesday, February 27. The Polling is scheduled from 9 am to 4 pm, followed by the vote count on the same day from 5 pm onwards.

A close contest between the BJP and SP is being witnessed in Uttar Pradesh. The ruling BJP and the opposition SP have the numbers to send seven and three members, respectively, unopposed to the Rajya Sabha. However, the BJP fielded Sanjay Seth as its eighth candidate giving a twist to the polls.

BJP national president JP Nadda, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradesh, Union Railways Minister Ashwani Vaishnaw and former Congress chief Sonia Gandhi were among the 41 candidates who were elected to the Rajya Sabha unopposed in the latest round.
