Rahul serves lunch to vegetable vendor Rameshwar, says ‘his pain and challenges are far away from mainstream debate’ | India News – Times of India

NEW DELHI: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Friday shared a video of his meeting with vegetable vendor Rameshwar and wrote “Rameshwar is the voice of that India whose issues, pains and challenges are far away from the mainstream debate. It is our moral responsibility to hear the voice of that India and help them fight the challenges that they face.
Rameshwar was seen in a viral video with his empty hand-cart saying that he could not buy tomatoes as the prices were very high. Asked if he would buy some other vegetables, he said “paise nahin hain” (I do not have money) and then broke down.
In the over nine minute video, the former Congress president is seen serving lunch to Rameshwar and his family and also interacting with them.

Rameshwar can be heard telling Rahul Gandhi that he did not want to live anymore. To this, the Congress leader replied: “Don’t say that again. Speaking from your heart isn’t a weakness, it is honesty. Don’t think about what others say. You only adhere to the truth.” The Congress leader also requested Rameshwar not to call him sir and address him only as Rahul.
During the conversation, Rameshwar says he is lucky to have been hosted by the Congress leader and also thanks Rahul for understanding his pain. The vegetable vendor criticises the government and says the poor are unable to survive even as the rich thrive.
