People saying ‘quit India’ to ills like graft, dynasties and appeasement: PM Modi | India News – Times of India
Laying the foundation stone through video conferencing of 508 stations across 27 states and UTs at an investment of Rs 25,000 crore, the PM said people now are “inspired by Mahatma Gandhi’s call for the Quit India”, adding, “This means corruption, quit India; dynasty, quit India and appeasement, quit India.” The anniversary of Quit India Movement is on August 9.
The PM also accused a section of the opposition parties of playing “negative politics” of neither doing anything good nor letting others do good work.
“Unfortunately, a section of the opposition is still stuck in the old ways. Even today, they are adamant on neither doing any work nor letting anyone else do any work,” Modi said, mentioning how the opposition parties opposed several nationally-important projects, including the New Parliament Building, Kartavya Path and National War Memorial.
We (Centre) have given priority to development — rising above the party in office in a state and also votebank politics. Unfortunately, a section of opposition is playing negative politics and is adamant on neither doing any work nor letting anyone else work.

The PM also accused some opposition leaders of not visiting the Statue of Unity and paying tribute to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
Modi said his government has decided to rise above negative politics go ahead with the politics of development. “We have given priority to development rising above which party is in power in any state and the vote bank politics,” he said.
On the rising stature of India across the globe, the PM said it has happened due to two main reasons — “first, people of India elected a government with absolute majority after almost three decades and second, the full majority government took big decisions with clarity and continuously worked for permanent solution to the challenges”. This comment on “full backing of voters” comes just days before the Lok Sabha takes up a no trust motion moved by the opposition against the NDA government and this is being seen as a sign of confidence of the ruling dispensation.
Claiming how tax payers have gained more faith in the government in recent years, the PM said earlier people were sceptical whether their taxes would be misused in corruption, but now since they know and see how the government utilises tax payers money in developmental works, they have full faith. Modi said despite the cap for tax exemption having been increased from earlier Rs 2 lakh to Rs 8 lakh, the number of persons paying taxes has increased by 18% and the tax collection has also gone up.
While citing examples in the railway sector, the PM said that in the past nine years the tracks laid in India is more than the total rail network in South Africa, Ukraine, Poland, United Kingdom and Sweden.
