Opposition mulls no-confidence motion against Dhankhar | India News – Times of India
Sources said two parties on Tuesday pitched strongly that the ‘INDIA’ grouping should move a no-confidence motion in the RS to show their “disapproval of the management of the House”. The complaints ranged from alleged “partisanship” to “non-consideration of legitimate demands” to “humiliation” of leader of opposition Mallikarjun Kharge.
After the initial push was made at the meeting of the opposition bloc, sources said all parties agreed with the grievance and the course suggested. “They were heard, but no decision has been taken yet by the leadership,” a senior member said.
The opposition is locked in a battle of wits with the government over the ethnic carnage in Manipur since the start of the monsoon session. It was the solitary Manipur issue that led to the extreme step of the opposition moving a no-confidence motion in Lok Sabha. The ‘INDIA’ group argued that it was the only way to force the PM to speak in Parliament on the issue.
