Nikhat Zareen Mahindra Thar: Mahindra Thar gifted to Nikhat Zareen for 2023 Women’s World Boxing Championship win – Times of India

Mahindra & Mahindra has gifted Indian boxer Nikhat Zareen a Thar SUV for winning Gold at the 2023 IBA Women’s World Boxing Championships in March this year. Zareen took the victory in Light flyweight category, defeating Vietnamese boxer Nguyễn Thị Tâm 5 – 0. “India’s greatest boxing champion deserves no less than India’s greatest off-roader,” announced Mahindra’s official social media handles.
The Mahindra Thar was gifted to Zareen at the Championship, however, has just been delivered to her. The SUV was given to her as a part of her ‘Mahindra Emerging Boxing Icon’ award at the 2023 IBA Women’s World Boxing Championships. It was delivered to her at a Mahindra dealership in Hyderabad on August 9.
The Thar that has been gifted to Nikhat Zareen is finished in Napoli Black, however, the exact variant cannot be ascertained. That said, Mahindra offers the Thar in two different configurations – RWD and 4WD, with prices starting from Rs 10.54 lakh, going all the way up to Rs 16.78 lakh (both prices, ex-showroom).

The Mahindra Thar can be had with a 1.5-litre diesel engine making 117 hp power and 300 Nm torque; a 2.2-litre diesel motor putting out 128 hp and 300 Nm; or a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine producing 150 hp power and up to 320 Nm torque. Transmission options include a 6-speed manual gearbox, as well as an optional 6-speed torque converter auto. The Mahindra Thar currently rivals lifestyle SUVs like Force Gurkha and Maruti Suzuki Jimny in the Indian market.
