Nda: Tackle INDIA with ‘ghamandiya’ jibe: PM Modi to NDA MPs | India News – Times of India

NEW DELHI: At a time when Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar is trying to emerge as a key player in opposition ranks, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while interacting with the NDA MPs from Bihar on Thursday night, cited the example of how BJP, despite having higher numbers, accepted an undeserving Kumar as the state CM to ensure the alliance remained strong.

“BJP showed large heartedness and inclusiveness to see that NDA remained strong. We did it in Bihar. BJP made sacrifices for the larger good,” the PM said as confirmed by a BJP functionary present in the meeting even as he said that the PM pointed at examples without taking direct names.
In August last year, Kumar had dumped BJP and joined hands with RJD and continued as Bihar CM. In 2020 assembly polls, BJP had won 74 seats, far more than JD(U)’s 43.

In his interaction with the party lawmakers, Modi also suggested a new strategy to tackle the opposition alliance by not calling them INDIA but “Ghamandiya”, the Hindi word for arrogant.
The sources said Modi noted that the National Democratic Alliance has completed 25 years of existence after it was formed under the leadership of Atal Bihari Vajpayee and has since then been a force of stability.
He spoke about the period of political instability in the country before NDA was formed. It may be noted that BJP has pointed out in the past that it has supported its allies, which may be smaller in strength, to occupy key positions in states. Sources said Modi asked the NDA MPs to utilise the time till the next Lok Sabha polls to reach out to maximum people in their constituency and highlight the development works of the government for them.
His government, the PM said, has fulfilled all the promises it made to people in 2014 when it first came to power.
Home minister Amit Shah and defence minister Rajnath Singh also addressed the NDA MPs from Bihar.
Modi has been addressing NDA MPs as part of efforts to boost coordination among its constituents and shape the ruling bloc’s strategy for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
Modi first addressed a meeting of more than 45 MPs from the central and eastern regions of UP and then spoke to another group of lawmakers from southern states on July 31. BJP has divided NDA MPs into 11 clusters of different regions, and the PM is expected to address all of them.
