MP home minister orders probe into Anju Thomas’ Pakistan run | India News – Times of India

BHOPAL: Madhya Pradesh home minister Narottam Mishra has ordered the police’s Special Branch to investigate the “circumstances” surrounding Anju Thomas‘ journey to Pakistan, where she has reportedly married a Facebook friend, Nasrullah.

Mishra expressed concern over the way Anju was being received in Pakistan and the people she was meeting, saying it has “raised doubts about the nature of her visit”. Anju, a native of Gwalior, had been living in Rajasthan with her husband and two children, when she quietly left home on July 20 and travelled to Pakistan on a valid 30-day visa. Her visa expires on August 20.
The MP Police investigation will examine all aspects of the case to reveal the reasons for her Pakistan trip and to see if there are “external influences”, said sources.

According to reports in Pakistani media, she has been given land and money for converting to Islam, taking the name ‘Fatima’, and marrying a Pakistani man. Anju’s father had earlier told TOI that he was shamed by Anju’s actions and she was “dead to him”.
