Mammootty was approached to play a role in Rajinikanth’s ‘Jailer’ – Exclusive! | Tamil Movie News – Times of India

Rajinijanth’s film ‘Thalapathi‘ was released in 1991. Directed by Mani Ratnam, the film starred Mammootty alongside Rajinikanth and was a blockbuster hit. The chemistry on screen between the two legendary actors was the talk of the town, and their friendship both onscreen and offscreen is something that fans admire.

ETimes has exclusively learned that Mammootty was first approached by Nelson Dilipkumarto play a role in ‘Jialer’.

“The director had approached Mammootty to play a role in the film; however, as the actor had other movie commitments, he couldn’t agree to be part of ‘Jailer‘. Nelson Dilipkumar wanted Mammooty to play the role that Malayalam actor Vinayakan is playing in the film.”
Interestingly, Rajinikanth also hinted about this piece of information at the audio launch of ‘Jailer, without taking the actor’s name.
‘Jailer’ is an action entertainer, and the movie stars Rajnikanth, Mohanlal, Jackie Shroff, Shiva Rajkumar, Tamannaah Bhatia, Ramya Krishnan, Vinayakan and Yogi Babu in lead roles. The music for the movie is composed by Anirudh Ravichander, and the film is set to release in theatres on August 10.
