BENGALURU: Karnataka food and civil supplies minister KH Muniyappa stirred consternation on Monday when he exhorted senior cabinet colleagues to resign after 30 months and make way for fresh faces in the council of ministers.

However, CM Siddaramaiah and his deputy DK Shivakumar will be exceptions since the party high command will have to take a call, he said.
“Our cabinet has set an example by implementing the party’s five guarantees in record time,” said Muniyappa, who oversaw the rollout of cash instead of rice under the Anna Bhagya scheme. “Barring the CM and deputy CM, all senior ministers should resign and make way for others,” Muniyappa said at the general body meeting of the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee which was convened to thank party workers for their contribution to Congress’ victory in the assembly elections. Shivakumarsaid some ministers need to be “changed”.
