Japan: India indispensable for free, open Indo-Pacific | India News – Times of India



NEW DELHI: Calling India an indispensable partner in achieving a free and open Indo-Pacific, visiting Japanese foreign minister Yoshimasa Hayashi said on Friday Japan intended to deepen cooperation with India in all areas to expand the special strategic and global partnership between the two countries.

The minister was speaking in the presence of his counterpart S Jaishankar who described Japan as modernising India’s natural partner. Talks between the two leaders on Thursday saw them backing efforts to strengthen defence and security cooperation between India and Japan that would help them achieve their aim of a free, open and inclusive Indo-Pacific.
In his comments, Jaishankar described Japan as India’s natural partner.
