India vs West Indies: Kuldeep Yadav and Ravindra Jadeja create an ODI record as left-arm spinners | Cricket News – Times of India

India’s left-arm spinners Kuldeep Yadav and Ravindra Jadeja not just set up the team’s easy win in the first ODI against the West Indies on Thursday, but also created a unique record.

Yadav and Jadeja are now the first pair of Indian left-arm spinners to take seven wickets between them in an ODI. While chinaman bowler Yadav took four wickets for just six runs, Jadeja’s figures read 3 for 37.
The two combined to bowl the West Indies out for just 114 in 23 overs.

Fast bowlers Shardul Thakur, Hardik Pandya and Mukesh Kumar took one wicket each.

Ishan Kishan then led India’s easy run-chase by scoring 52 at the top. India eventually won by five wickets, reaching the target in the 23rd over.
However, Kishan’s opening partner Shubman Gill (7) failed, along with Surykumar Yadav (19) and all-rounder Hardik Pandya (5).

Rohit Sharma chose to bat at No. 7, allowing the team to test its young batters. The skipper scored 12 not out, while Jadeja remained unbeaten with him on 16.
