Maintaining that India has the wherewithal to meet this goal, she said several investor-friendly reform initiatives had been undertaken by the government.
“We are looking for both public and private investment and creating the necessary environment, the ecosystem as we often refer to for attracting private investment. And the global discussions which are going on ‘blended finance’ is also something which we are looking at,” she said at an event organised by Aspen.
On innovation, Sitharaman said, the government has opened up several areas including space and nuclear energy to private sector participation and the youth is helping find solutions for legacy and newer challenges. At the same time, the government is keen to build an inclusive society and is seeking to ensure that the common citizen had access to services and benefitted from the investments and reforms, she added.
