Exclusive! Shruti Rawat: It’s better to part ways than be in a loveless marriage – Times of India

Filing for divorce in January of this year required consideration and contemplation, especially because a daughter was involved as well. She shares, “It was indeed a difficult decision. However, I believe if two individuals are not compatible and happy together, it is better to go separate ways. Kyu zabardasti kheechna? Staying in a loveless marriage or with someone who no longer brings happiness can be suffocating for both partners. It’s unfair to our daughter as well. Instead of one broken family, providing two happy homes for her is a better option. We are happy individually and I feel a sense of freedom now.”
Despite a failed marriage, Shruti isn’t disillusioned about love and relationships. She says, “While I am currently single, I love the idea of companionship and marriage. It’s perfectly fine to make mistakes, learn from them, pursue my dreams, and prioritise my career over everything else. I am open to love and excited about my future. In fact, I hope Nikhil, too, finds a girl who is more compatible and settles down again.”
On the work front, the actress, who was last seen in Anandibaa Aur Emily, which ended last November, is looking at making a comeback. Shruti, who has featured in shows like Chintu Chinky Aur Ek Badi Si Love Story, RK Laxman Ki Duniya, Badi Dooooor Se Aaye Hain, and Kya Haal Mr Paanchal, says, “I took a break from work as I wanted to spend more time with my daughter. I was overcome with the guilt of being away from my daughter for long hours. I feel she has now adjusted well to my schedule and I am planning to get back to work soon.”
