England vs Australia, Ashes 2023: If Ben Stokes texts me again, I’ll delete it, jokes Moeen Ali | Cricket News – Times of India

Moeen Ali‘s three-wicket spell played a key role in England‘s win at The Oval on Monday to draw the five-match Ashes Test series against Australia 2-0, but the all-rounder is firm to not come out of retirement again.

A text from skipper Ben Stokes after Jack Leach’s injury led to 36-year-old Moeen’s comeback in June this year, having quit Test cricket two years ago.
The spin-bowling allrounder ended up playing four of the five Ashes Tests and even batted at number three after Ollie Pope got injured.

Moeen and fast-bowling great Stuart Broad ended their Test careers together after bowling their team to a 49-run victory in London on Monday.
“That’s me done,” Moeen told Sky Sports, and then jokingly added: “If Ben Stokes texts me, I’ll delete it.”

Moeen ended his career with 68 Test appearances, which saw him scoring 3094 runs, including five hundreds, and taking 204 wickets with his off-breaks.
He also played 129 ODIs and 74 T20Is for England.
