Engage experts to help kids in Pocso cases: SC | India News – Times of India
NEW DELHI: Observing that true justice in a sexual offence against a child is achieved not merely by nabbing the culprit and bringing him to justice but when the child is brought back to society and made to feel secure, the Supreme Court has expressed agony that child care professionals and experts are not deployed to assist children during the pre-trial and trial stages in such cases as provided under the Pocso law, reports Amit Anand Choudhary.
Taking note of one such case from Uttar Pradesh and recording child’s “painstaking struggle for justice while navigating the police, investigation stage, and court processes”, resulting her re-victimisation, a bench of Justices S Ravindra Bhat and Aravind Kumar directed the state to immediate take remedial measures to deploy professionals to assist children in such cases to get over their trauma.
