Debina Bonnerjee on women going for IVF still considered to be a taboo: Never be afraid of ‘log kya kahenge’ and trolls – Times of India

Debina Bonnerjee recently took to her vlog and shared her thoughts on IVF on World IVF day, which was on July 25. The mom of two girls, Debina welcomed her first baby through IVF after several failed attempts.

In the vlog she spoke about how women, going for IVF treatment are seen differently and still the pregnancy treatment is considered to be a taboo.

Debina, through her words tried to uplift them. She shared, “I learnt recently that women, who consider going for IVF, are seen differently and it is considered a taboo. The babies are seen differently. People troll them. I feel when we are afraid of anything, we take other’s comments as trolls. I was never afraid of what people will think and I have shared my entire journey. I never felt if I was getting trolled because of IVF. People, who troll, that’s their job as they don’t have any other job. If we keep thinking log kya kahenge then many things in our life won’t happen. It’s better to think about your own self.”
She also added, “When I shared my journey, I felt I will get a community, who are going through the same. IVF journey is very lonely. There’s a lot of physical trauma, mental trauma every month and there is no one with whom you can share. Society doesn’t define you. Our efforts define us. IVF is our effort to go towards that beautiful feeling of motherhood. People who are going through this journey, and who are simply waiting, that their time will come to embrace motherhood, all my good wishes for them. Our bodies have the power to do miracles and our body supports that.”
Debina had chronicled her entire motherhood journey and how she failed several times in conceiving her child. After having Lianna, through IVF, the couple soon conceived naturally. For Debina and Gurmeet, it was a miracle. The couple is now parents to two beautiful girls Lianna and Divisha.
