Captain Jasprit Bumrah leads India’s first team huddle in Dublin ahead of Ireland series

India have arrived in Ireland to play a three-match T20I series. The team held their first team huddle on the tour, which was led by India captain Jasprit Bumrah, who would be returning to action after almost a year of missing cricketing action.

“Our first team huddle in Dublin as we kickstart our preparations for the T20I series against Ireland,” the BCCI posted photos on its official Twitter handle.

India’s squad announcement for the Ireland T20I series marked a significant milestone as it signaled the return of Jasprit Bumrah, who had been sidelined due to injury. Bumrah’s return was not just a boost for the team but also for the cricketing fraternity, which had been eagerly awaiting his comeback.

The T20I series, scheduled to take place in Dublin, Ireland, saw Bumrah donning the captain’s hat, leading a team that boasted a blend of experienced players and emerging talents. The vice-captaincy was handed to Ruturaj Gaikwad, an up-and-coming player who has shown promise in his performances in the Indian Premier League. Other notable members of the squad included Yashasvi Jaiswal, Tilak Varma, Rinku Singh, Sanju Samson, and Shivam Dube. The wicketkeeping duties were shared between Sanju Samson and Jitesh Sharma.

The series will kick off on 18 August at Malahide, Dublin, with subsequent matches scheduled for August 20 and August 23 at the same venue. Each match is set to commence at 7:30 PM IST.

Bumrah’s return to competitive cricket was met with much anticipation. Known for his unique bowling action and ability to deliver yorkers at will, Bumrah is considered one of the best bowlers in international cricket.

The series against Ireland will serve as a crucial preparatory ground for the Indian team ahead of the Asian Games, Asia Cup and the ICC ODI World Cup. With key players returning from injuries and young talents getting a taste of international cricket, the T20I series against Ireland would be more than just a bilateral series. It would be a stepping stone towards building a robust team capable of taking on the challenges of the upcoming major tournaments.
