HYDERABAD: The husband of a municipal councillor, belonging to the ruling Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) party, was stabbed to death by two assailants in broad daylight in Korutla town in Telangana’s Jagtial district on Tuesday morning.

The deceased — identified as Laxmi Rajyam (48), husband of Korutla municipal councillor P Uma Rani — went to a roadside eatery at Kargil Centre.
At 9 am, while he was having tea, two men, whose faces were covered with handkerchiefs, reached the spot on a bike.

The assailants launched an indiscriminate attack on Rajyam with knives.
“They fled the spot after stabbing the victim, ” Jagtial SP A Bhaskar said.
Laxmi was rushed to a hospital in Karimnagar where he succumbed to injuries.
Police said that they have launched a manhunt to nab the offenders.
“Prima facie the reason for the murder appears to be personal grudge and not a political issue,” police said.
