What exactly happened?

Bronny James suffered a cardiac arrest during practice at the University. Cardiac arrest is a critical cardiovascular event in which the heart stops suddenly. What happens in a cardiac arrest?

In a cardiac arrest, a person’s heart stops suddenly. This unexpected pause in heart beat is because the blood stops flowing to the rest of the body. Usually people who have cardiac arrest have an injury to the brain. These people can also have injury to internal organs.
The common signs of cardiac arrest are sudden collapse, not able to breathe properly, gasping for air, not responding to anyone shouting, and the absensce of any pulse.
As of now, nothing else is known about Bronny James’ health and the USC has decided not to say anything on this matter out of respect for student’s privacy, media has reported.
Cardiomyopathy, coronary artery disease, valvular heart disease and arrhythmia are few of the possible underlying conditions that cause cardiac arrest. A rare condition known as commotio cordis which causes a forceful blow to the chest, as from a hard ball or steering wheel, can also cause cardiac arrest.
