Bihar Murder News: Kin burn Kishanganj man to death for ‘hidden treasure’ | Patna News – Times of India

PATNA: The lust for lucre led the family members of 62-year-old Mohammad Kalimuddin to allegedly burn him to death at Dulali village under Bahadurganj police station area in Kishanganj district Tuesday evening.

“One of his sons told us that they burned him to death as it will fill their home with gold and precious jewels,” Bahadurganj police station sub-inspector Pushpa Kumari told TOI on Wednesday, describing it as a case of superstition. She said all the family members appeared “mentally sick”.
Another police officer said the family members of the deceased had fallen into the trap of a local godman, who told them that Kalimuddin owned a hidden treasure full of gold and precious jewels. Subsequently, they kept on putting pressure on the victim to reveal the place where he had hidden the treasure. When Kalimuddin repeatedly denied having any knowledge about it, his family members got angry and wrapped him in used clothes and set him on fire by pouring petrol. Hearing his cries, the villagers rushed to the spot but by that time he was dead. The police sent the body for postmortem.
