To be turned into a solar-powered city, the state government has tied up with NTPC Renewable Energy Limited to set up the plant over the land which is going to be given on 30-year lease to the company.
A nominal rent will be taken in return from the company.
Establishing the power station will require infusion of at least Rs 160 crore as capital which is going to be provided by the company.
It is estimated that the plant will generate over 7 crore units of green energy which will be redirected into the supply grid for distribution within the city.
The cost of setting up the power grid and transmission system will be borne by the state government and for that provision of Rs 9 crore has been done.
The tariff will be decided once the average cost of generating one unit is determined.
Local agencies undertaking the development work in the city are also pushing for sustainable and eco-friendly measures while approving new projects and are stressing upon green energy and waste water discharge plants for all the commercial projects that are being planned in the city.
