Around 75 of them will directly report to Shah and coordinate with other team members, who will be deputed to Telangana in run-up to polls.
The state unit will have its own election nerve-centre led by Prakash Javadekar, who will coordinate with state and central teams, which will be juxtaposed with Shah’s original team that oversaw byelections and GHMC polls. The Delhi war-room will be supplemented with local team members and Shah will monitor the three-layered poll battery.
Telangana BJP leaders, including state unit chief Kishan Reddy and national vice-president DK Aruna were briefed on the strategy during a meeting with the Delhi brass on Thursday, when senior Telugu actress Jayasudha joined the party.
Top sources told TOI that all sitting BJP MPs, including Union tourism minister G Kishan Reddy, national general secretary Bandi Sanjay, Nizamabad MP D Arvind and Adilabad MP Soyam Bapu Rao are likely to contest assembly polls.
Telangana BJP told to zero in on winning candidates in 75 seats
Following the success in GHMC elections and two bypolls, BJP pinned its hopes on Telangana as the next destination in south India after Karnataka, but there’s lull in party activity after recent political twists and turns.
This forced the Central leadership to take charge. Party leaders were instructed to identify strong candidates in 75 of the state’s 119 assembly seats.
In Shah’s war-room, while 75 members will be stationed in the national capital, at least 10 will be deputed in 75 key assembly segments and will report to 75 election managers in Delhi. Also, the teams that have already worked in Telangana will be involved in campaign and other strategies. All these team members are B-school grads or armed with professional degrees.
The party has already tasked local leaders in each district and constituency to coordinate with booth captains for assessment of their preparedness.
