“This no-confidence motion is strange. There is neither lack of confidence among people of the country nor in Parliament against the Modi government,” Amit Shahsaid and added “This no trust motion has been brought to mislead the people of this country.
The opposition has no real issues against the government.”
Amit Shah heaped praise on Prime Minister Narendra Modi for putting an end to politics of corruption and appeasement in the country and initiating the politics of performance. PM Modi is the most popular prime minister of the country after Independence, he said.
The Union home minister hit out at the Congress and accused the grand old party of compromising on morality and values.
Earlier today, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi launched a broadside against the government over its handling of the violence in Manipur.
Speaking on the second day of the debate on the no-confidence motion in Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, in his first comments in the House after the restoration of his membership, also slammed Prime Minister Modi for not visiting Manipur and alleged that the PM does not consider the state a part of India, evoking strong protest by the treasury benches.
The politics of the BJP has “murdered Bharat Mata” in Manipur, Rahul alleged and called members of the ruling party “traitors”.
The former Congress chief also alleged that the Prime Minister listens to only two people, Amit Shah and Gautam Adani, just as Ravan paid heed to only two people’s advice –Meghnad and Kumbhakaran.
Gandhi showed an old poster of Modi and Adani sitting together in an aircraft, and claimed that “Modi doesn’t listen to India’s voice but theirs (Adani group).” The Prime Minister was not in the House when Gandhi spoke.
After the treasury benches protested over the poster, pointing out that it was not allowed by the rules, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla again asked Gandhi to exercise restraint.
However, a controversy over alleged flying kiss by Rahul Gandhi overshadowed his speech.
Union Minister Smriti Irani expressed outrage over Rahul for blowing a flying kiss in the Lok Sabha. She called Rahul a misogynist and said the House had never witnessed such an “indecent act”. Later, BJP women MPs met Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla and demanded “stringent action” against Rahul Gandhi.
Smriti Irani also came down heavily on Rahul for his “murder of India in Manipur” remark in Lok Sabha, saying this is for the first time in parliamentary democracy that someone has made such a statement. Speaking after the Congress leader during the debate , she also attacked the Congress, saying the party’s members were clapping and thumping desks when the remark was being made.
