Alia Bhatt wanted a minimalistic Mandala mehendi with Ranbir’s name and infinity symbol: Jyoti Chedda | Hindi Movie News – Times of India
Director Karan Johar recently revealed how the actress got married twice in a week’s span and that Alia Bhatt’s real wedding mehendifeatured in the movie. ETimes reached out to the artist, Jyoti Chedda, who did the mehendi for Alia’s wedding in April 2022.
Revealing details about the same, Jyoti shared, “Alia’s theme was everything minimalistic, be it her saree, make–up or even wedding decor. The brief for us was also minimalism. Her only requests she made for the customised design was that she wanted Mandala art with the infinity symbol incorporated in it and of course Ranbir Kapoor’s name. Since she wanted to enjoy all the festivity, Alia didn’t want to spend much time in Mehendi. We wrapped her minimalistic designs on both hands in around half an hour.” The confidentiality around Alia’s wedding was such that the mehendi artist was informed about the bride’s name, just two days before the day.
With her minimal Mehendi, Alia set a trend for future brides. “Alia has put mehendi on numerous occasions for shoots and she didn’t want the typical designs. Alia set a trend with her minimalistic bridal Mehendi. Now, all brides confidently opt for small and delicate designs, over the traditional heavy ones,” added Jyoti, who has previously done the henna for celebrity brides like Karishma Tanna, Disha Parmar, Gauahar Khan and Shweta Tripathi to name a few.
Soon after KJo made the statement about Alia’s wedding Mehendi being featured in the movie, Veena Nagda, who had done Alia’s mehendi for ‘Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani’, came forth to clarify about her designs. Reacting to the controversy, Jyoti Chedda said, “We sincerely recognise and appreciate the additions the second artist brought to Alia Bhatt’s wedding mehendi for the shoot of ‘Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani’, contributing to the charm. However, it is essential to honor the groundwork and original vision established by us. It was our creativity, formation, symmetry, and direction which served as the fundamental blueprint for Alia’s dream bridal mehendi. This crucial foundation enabled the second artist’s embellishments to shine. We deeply value the work of both artists, celebrating the harmonious fusion of their talents that led to an extraordinary outcome.”
