‘AC not working, passengers made to suffer’: Congress MLA shares ‘traumatic experience’ on IndiGo flight | India News – Times of India

NEW DELHI: Passengers on an IndiGo flight from Chandigarh to Jaipur had a harrowing time after the aircraft took off without functional air conditioners and they were forced to sit in sweltering conditions for the 90-minute journey.
In a detailed post on X (formerly known as Twitter), Congress leader Amarinder Singh Raja Warring attached a video showing passengers fanning themselves with paper, and flight staff distributing pieces of tissues so flyers could mop up their sweat.
The incident occurred on August 5 on IndiGo flight 6E7261.
“We were made to wait for about 10-15 minutes in queue in the scorching sun and when we entered the plane, to our shock, the ACs weren’t working and the flight took off without the ACs on!,” said Warring, while asking the Airports Authority of India (AAI) and the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) to take strict action against the airlines.
“Right from the take off to landing, the ACs were off and all the passengers were made to ‘Suffer’ throughout the journey. No one addressed the serious concern during the flight. In fact, the air hostess ‘generously’ distributed tissue papers to the passengers to wipe off their sweat,” said the Congress leader.
“Most of the passengers including women and children were restless and agitated, which can be seen clearly in the video. Helpless passengers were fanning themselves with papers to keep cool. It was clearly a major technical issue but the authorities concerned just wanted to mince money that is why the health and comfort of the passengers was put at stake,” he said, adding: “I urge the DGCA and the AAI to take strict action against IndiGo and the authorities concerned so that the passengers don’t have to go through such traumatic experience again.”
