6 devotees killed, 8 injured in UP’s Hathras as truck hits tractor-trolley | Agra News – Times of India
The incident occurred on Sadabad Road during Friday night. The speeding truck, approaching from the opposite direction, struck the trolley, causing the casualties, superintendent of police Devesh Kumar Pandey said.
The tractor-trolley, transporting 45 pilgrims, including women and children, was en route from Jalesar in Etah district to Govardhan in Mathura, as stated by Pandey.
“Five individuals perished on the scene, with one more succumbing to injuries later. The deceased have been identified as Vikram (45), Madhuri (22), Hemlata (12), Lakhmi (18), Abhishek (20), and Vishnu (20),” reported the SP.
The wounded individuals were admitted to various medical facilities for treatment, including the community health center in Sadabad, Hathras district hospital, JN Medical College in Aligarh, and SN Medical College in Agra, according to him.
The bodies of the deceased have been sent for post-mortem examinations, confirmed the police.
The truck driver and two co-drivers have been taken into custody, and authorities have seized the truck, as stated by officials.
Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath conveyed his “profound grief at the loss of lives in the road accident in Hathras district” in a tweet written in Hindi.
