1st ODI: Suryakumar Yadav makes Sanju Samson presence felt despite not in playing eleven | Cricket News – Times of India
The same trend followed during the first ODI between India and West Indies in Barbados on Thursday as Samson was again neglected and Ishan Kishan was included in the playing eleven.
But Indian batter Suryakumar Yadav made sure that Samson’s absence should not have been felt on the field by donning his jersey that left Twitter in splits.
Even when Surya came out to bat after the dismissal of Shubman Gill, he was seen wearing a Samson jersey.
Talking about the match, the left-arm spinners Kuldeep Yadav and Ravindra Jadeja orchestrated the complete dismantling of the opposition, who put up an abject display, getting bundled out for a paltry 114 in just 23 overs.
Captain Rohit Sharma brought Kuldeep into the attack as the sixth bowler, a move that proved to be instrumental in the West Indies’ capitulation.
Kuldeep’s mesmerising spell resulted in him claiming outstanding figures of four wickets for just six runs off three overs. His devastating performance triggered a stunning collapse of the West Indies’ batting order, with the last seven wickets falling for a mere 26 runs.
Ravindra Jadeja, known for his prowess in Test cricket, showed his versatility by shining in the limited-overs format as well. He picked up three wickets, conceding 37 runs in his spell.
