10-year old gang-raped, brutalised in Madhya Pradesh’s Satna | Bhopal News – Times of India
The survivor sustained grievous injuries and was admitted to Sanjay Gandhi hospital in Rewa after being referred by doctors from Satna district hospital.
The incident took place at around 7am in a locality under Maihar town. The accused have been identified as Atul Barolia, 31, son of Surendra Barolia, a resident of Malihan Tola, and Ravindra Kumar Ravi, 30, son of Bihari Lal Ravi, a resident of Udaipur.
“The girl had gone to fetch water in the morning when the accused forcibly took her to nearby bushes and took turns to rape her. They also subjected her to torture by inserting an object in her private parts. When the survivor did not return home for a long time, her family members began searching for her. They eventually found her in an injured condition, bleeding profusely, but still able to communicate. The family rushed to the police outpost with the survivor, and a case was registered since the survivor knew the accused. She was immediately taken to the hospital, and the police launched a hunt to arrest the accused, both of whom are laborers”, Maihar police station in-charge, Animesh Dwivedi told TOI.
The girl was referred to Sanjay Gandhi hospital in Rewa, where doctors stated that her condition is stable for now. “Primary examinations have been conducted, and she is stable at the moment. A detailed examination by a team of experts is being done,” said Dr Yatnesh Tripathi, chief medical officer of the hospital.
The incident sparked outrage, and locals gathered at the Maihar police station to protest. Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan also responded to the incident via a tweet, expressing his sadness and instructing the police to spare no efforts in apprehending the culprits. Both accused were subsequently arrested.
Former chief minister Kamal Nath condemned the incident on Twitter, comparing it to the brutal Nirbhaya incident. He criticized the state government for failing to ensure the safety of girls and demanded appropriate treatment for the survivor and immediate financial assistance of Rs 1 crore.
